To make the wait for the next season a bit more bearable, a new My Hero Academia anime special was announced, which stars Mirio Togata. This upcoming episode will be released next month.
Reports of this new episode were being shared online last week, but the special was finally confirmed in the latest Weekly Shonen Jump issue.
There, details about the new special were revealed, including when it takes place in the story.
My Hero Academia Special Episode to Air as Fans Await Season 7
My Hero Academia Season 6 ended back in March with its 25th episode. Shortly after, the anime’s seventh season was confirmed to be in the works via a teaser visual.
As there’s no trailer for it yet, fans will likely need to wait a while before it gets released – possibly in Spring 2024 at the earliest, based on the gaps between the previous seasons.
At least fans can look forward to a new anime project as the fourth My Hero Academia movie was also confirmed recently. This film will be set during the Dark Hero arc of Season 6.
The movie will also feature an all-new story from series creator Kohei Horikoshi. Much like the next anime season, there’s no word yet on a release date for the film.
The film will also likely be released in 2024 at the earliest. As a treat for fans who are waiting for Season 7 and the movie, a new My Hero Academia anime special episode was revealed, and it will be released in October.

New My Hero Academia Anime Episode to Be Released in October
This anime special will be a brand-new episode titled My Hero Academia UA Heroes Battle.
Instead of being set in Season 6, this episode will take place before the Endeavor Internship arc in Season 5.
Specifically, the episode’s events are set in the UA dormitory while Class 1-A are banned from going outside. Soon, Mirio Togata appears and introduces a new card game for Class 1-A to play.
Despite only being an episode, UA Heroes Battle will be released in selected Japanese cinemas from October 20-26. But it’s not clear how long this special episode will be.
There’s no word yet on international release plans, but the new episode will likely be streamed on Crunchyroll after its limited Japanese theatrical run.
