Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Reveals Split-Cour Release Schedule

Following the release of the season’s second episode, Mushoku Tensei announced that Season 2 of the anime will have a split-cour release schedule.

Details about the show’s release schedule were revealed recently via the show’s official Twitter account.

There, it was announced that the second half of the season will have a gap that’s two seasons long. This means fans will need to wait a while before the show’s second half airs.

Despite the long wait, it seems that fans’ spirits haven’t been dampened by the reveal.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Returns With Episodes 0 and 1

While there are countless isekai anime that have been released over the past years, it’s fair to say that Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is one of the more popular ones -- not to mention one of the most praised.

Unlike many isekai shows that feature a protagonist who becomes immediately overpowered in their new world, Mushoku Tensei is different as it follows the protagonist as he is transported into a new world as a baby.

The series takes place over a long time. In fact, the first season follows protagonist Rudeus’ younger years. Meanwhile, the new season follows his adolescence.

Aside from the show’s lengthy period, it also has some interesting twists to the isekai formula.

For instance, the second season began with Episode 0, which doesn’t follow Rudeus.

Then, the proper Episode 1 finally brings back Rudeus, though he is joined by a new cast of characters instead of the cast of Season 1, such as Eris.

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Will Feature a Two-Season-Long Gap

Counting Episode 0, the first half of Mushoku Tensei Season 2 will feature 13 episodes.

After this, fans will need to wait for half a year before the show’s second half airs.

Specifically, Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Part 1 will end in September 2023. It will then return with Episode 14 in April 2024.

This gap between cours is quite long given how split-cour shows like Spy x Family only have a gap of one season.

However, this isn’t an unprecedented decision. After all, the anime’s first season also had a similar schedule, with the first cour airing from January to March 2021, followed by the second half from October to December 2021.

New episodes of Mushoku Tensei Season 2 are streamed every week on Crunchyroll in the US and other selected regions.
