MTG: Wizards of the Coast Misspelled The Name of The World Champion & Another Pro Player

Wizards of the Coast

On September 23, Spanish Magic: The Gathering professional player Javier Dominguez became the 2018 Magic World Champion and won the ultimate prize of $100,000 USD. Dominguez also got his name misprinted on what seems to be a jacket given to participants at the event. The pro player shared the mistake on his Twitter:

As you can see above, they spelled his last name "Dominquez" instead of "Dominguez". It looks like Wizards will have it replaced with the correct name though.

However, Dominguez wasn't the only pro player who had his last name spelled wrong at the World Championship. It also happened to Japanese pro player Ken Yukuhiro, as shown on his Twitter post:

That's off by one letter again. They spelled it "Yukihiro" instead of "Yukuhiro".

These are just minor mistakes but the fact that they happened after Gerry Thompson sacrificed his World Championship slot to protest the state of professional Magic makes it look worse and sadly hilarious.

Magic's latest set Guilds of Ravnica will be released this Friday.
