Does the Mr and Mrs Smith Series Have a House Shootout Scene?
In the original 2005 flick, the house shootout scene was intentionally comedic yet steamy, putting viewers on the edge.
The once happily married couple practically destroying their house in one go and showing who they truly are sure was intense. Not to mention, they got to reveal where their weapons had been hidden the entire time they were married.
As Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were told in the flick, "Two competing agents living under the same roof is bad for business. They wanted you to take each other out."
But as soon as their little war was over, they made up for their lost time getting heated up in every corner of their home.
However, the new show does things differently. While the 2024 Mr and Mrs Smith series does include the house shootout sequence, John and Jane Smith didn't exactly destroy their only home. So, here's how.

How the Series Reimagined the Iconic House Shootout Scene
Amazon Prime's Mr and Mrs Smith series promised a house shootout scene and fans got it. Except they did it for a different reason.
While Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's story was that they married each other without being aware of their alter ego, Donald Glover and Maya Erskine's John and Jane Smith version did.
The only thing that led to their house shootout was when they refused to be completely and vulnerably honest with how they felt about each other.
"That change was important because it was really about two lonely people who are looking for connection," the Blue Eye Samurai star Erskine told TV Insider, "I feel like the essence of the show is about intimacy and marriage and trust."
What makes the reimagined series all the more "relatable", as the showrunner Francesca Sloane hoped to be, is that it's more interesting to watch people "who aren't even the best spies in the beginning."
