Mortal Kombat's Lewis Tan Reportedly Being Eyed for MCU's Iron Fist Reboot

The cancellation of the Marvel Netflix shows was disappointing news for fans. However, it looks like Marvel Studios still have big plans for the characters that had their own series. A new report suggests that Iron Fist could be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that the studio is already planning to recast the role. Interestingly, the possible frontrunner to play Danny Rand is none other than Mortal Kombat star Lewis Tan.

The report comes from We Got This Covered, which cites several sources claiming that Marvel is eyeing Tan to take over the role that was originally played by Finn Jones in the Netflix series. If the Wu Assassins star gets cast, there is a possibility that he will be introduced as the new Iron Fist in the upcoming MCU flick Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Casting Tan as Iron Fist is an interesting turn for Marvel considering that the Into the Badlands actor actually auditioned for the part when the series was being developed. Although he lost out to Jones, Tan still nabbed the role of Zhou Cheng in the show's first season. Additionally, he's already played the mutant Shatterstar in a very brief appearance in Deadpool 2.

So will Tan finally get to play Iron Fist? We'd love that idea but it's important to point out that the possible casting has not yet been confirmed. With that in mind, it's best to take it with a grain of salt.

Tan is set to appear in the Mortal Kombat film in an undisclosed role (we're hoping he's Johnny Cage). The film will premiere on March 5, 2021.
