Mortal Kombat 11 Calls Shaggy a 'Dead Meme,' He Will NOT Be Added to the Game

Zoinks Scoob, it looks like the Shaggy memes weren't enough to convince Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios to add the cowardly Mystery Inc. to Mortal Kombat 11. Fans launched a petition to get Shaggy into the game, with most of them hoping to see Shaggy as DLC, at the very least. Looks like that won't be happening as the people involved in the game have called Shaggy a "dead meme."

NetherRealm Studios' Community Manager Tyler Lansdown told fans that Shaggy will never be in the game during a live stream for MK 11. Lansdown joked about how developers take online petitions, before saying that Shaggy is a dead meme, hence him not coming to the game. This is a sad day for meme masters but is pretty much what everyone expected.

As if the comments weren't enough, the official Mortal Kombat 11 Twitter then posted the hashtag #RIPShaggy, showing that they agree with the statement from Lansdown. Fans will have to make do with Mugen, assuming that is still a thing.

Let's be honest, memes get dated really quickly and Shaggy's inclusion would confuse fans once the meme actually dies and fades into oblivion. Yeah, Ultra Instinct Shaggy is funny now but will it be funny a year from now? NetherRealm Studios have to think about more credible fighters for their game and its DLC, so no one can blame them for Shaggy's exclusion.

Mortal Kombat 11 comes out on April 23 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
