Moon Knight Episode 3: Marvel Pays Tribute to Late Actor Gaspard Ulliel

Moon Knight's third episode is quite a bittersweet affair as it marks the first and only Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance of French actor Gaspard Ulliel who died earlier this year in a horrific ski accident. On January 18, Ulliel collided with another skier at the La Rosière ski resort in Montvalezan, France and shortly following his surgery, the promising actor was pronounced dead.

In Episode 3, titled "The Friendly Type", Ulliel made his MCU debut as the iconic villain Anton Mogart aka Midnight Man, one of Marc Spector's storied adversaries in the comics. Mogart only played a minor role in the said episode, serving as the keeper of the sarcophagus Marc and his estranged wife Layla are in search of. It was also revealed that Mogart has connections with Madripoor, the location heavily featured in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

We never see Mogart suit up in his comics get-up as he was eventually killed by Moon Knight after a thrilling fight with his goons. Following the episode, Marvel Studios paid tribute to the late actor during the end credits. Gone but never forgotten. Rest in Power, Gaspard Ulliel.

Considering Ulliel was a relatively unknown actor in the MCU, there's a huge chance that Marvel will end up recasting him so they'd be able to bring back Midnight Man at some point. It's also possible that the studio will retcon the character much like they did the Mandarin.

Meanwhile, things are getting a lot more intriguing as the show progresses. With Khonshu imprisoned by the Egyptian Gods, what could happen to Marc Spector? We all know for a fact that Khonshu gives him the ability to summon the suit and without him, it's virtually impossible.

Moon Knight's third episode is now streaming on Disney+.
