Monster Hunter Movie: Milla Jovovich Gives Sand-Filled Update

Fans have mixed thoughts about the upcoming Monster Hunter movie, especially with most of the Resident Evil team being a part of it. The overall reception to Resident Evil movies have been mixed at best, so it's easy to see why some would be wary that they are also working on another beloved Capcom franchise. Still, those movies made money so maybe this one will too.

Milla Jovovich, the star of all the Resident Evil movies and this Monster Hunter film, recently shared a minor update, revealing some production photos. It's only the first week of production but she does seem to be enjoying herself, so here is hoping that audiences do as well. Some people did enjoy those Resident Evil movies, so who knows?

Unfortunately, the photos Jovovich shared don't reveal much about the movie's setting or the monsters that will be appearing. We know that it will be in a desert-like area but that's about it. The Monster Hunter games are known for their varied locations so this might be their way of trying to pay tribute to that.

To be fair, the Monster Hunter games don't really have much plot, to begin with, so it won't be too hard to screw this one up. At least it shouldn't be. There could be some entertainment in seeing Jovovich swinging hundred-foot swords on giant monsters but we will have to wait. Video game movies have given Hollywood good concepts before but they always end up botched somehow.

Monster Hunter will be directed by Jovovich's husband, Paul S. Anderson. No release date has been announced.
