The latest Gundam anime has a stacked voice cast, but one of them will be replaced. Recently, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury announced that Nika Nanaura voice actress Yume Miyamoto will be replaced by Haruka Shiraishi.
This voice actress change was announced via the show’s official Twitter account. Though the details of Miyamoto’s current status were shared by her agency, Gekidan Himawari.
The Witch from Mercury Is Gundam's Newest Addition to the Franchise
In case you’re unfamiliar, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is an ongoing anime by Sunrise that’s directed by Hiroshi Kobayashi, the director of Kiznaiver.
He is joined by series composer Ichiro Okouchi, the co-creator of Code Geass.
This new anime is significant for a couple of reasons, one of which is that it’s the first TV anime in seven years following Iron-Blooded Orphans.
The Witch from Mercury is also noteworthy for having a female protagonist in Suletta Mercury. This makes it the first Gundam TV anime to have a female main character.
As for its premise, the series is set in the year 122 A.S. (Ad Stella). In this era, corporations have entered space and have built a massive economic system.
Its story follows Suletta Mercury, a girl who transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology which is run by the Benerit Group, a company that dominates the Mobile Suit industry.
There, Suletta meets Miorine Rembran, the daughter of Benerit Group's president, Delling Rembran.
Soon, their paths cross, though they have different goals.
While Miorine wants to escape her father’s control, Suletta aims to prove herself as a Mobile Suit pilot.

The Witch from Mercury Nika Nanaura VA
One of the show’s characters is Nika Nanaura, an Earthian second-year student who takes a keen interest in Suletta.
She is initially voiced by Yume Miyamoto, a voice actress who is known for her roles such as Rikka Takarada in SSSS.GRIDMAN and Maki Kuwana in Blue Period.
Recently though, it was announced by her agency that Miyamoto will go on a hiatus due to an undisclosed health issue, but she will still be able to work in a limited capacity.
In light of this, it was announced that starting in Episode 10, Nika Nanaura will be voiced by Haruka Shiraishi, a voice actress known for voicing Asirpa in Golden Kamuy and Kirie Motoba in Himouto! Umaru-chan.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Episode 9 will be released on December 4. This means Shiraishi will debut as Nika Nanaura on December 11 when the tenth episode gets released.
