It looks like Microsoft has decided to fire the first shot in this next-generation console war, as they have given fans a firm release window for the Xbox Series X. While the actual date is still unknown, Microsoft have confirmed that their new console will be coming out sometime this November. That's actually huge news since fans now know a specific timeframe for this console, which can't be said for Sony's more highly-anticipated PlayStation 5.
Microsoft narrowing down the Xbox Series X release date is great news, though it is odd that it came after Microsoft announced that Halo Infinite would also be delayed. It seems like the company is now hoping that backwards-compatibility will be enough to sell some of their next-gen consoles, if the press release is anything to go by, since the Xbox Series X can play Xbox One and Xbox 360 games.

To do that, we will need some more time to finish the critical work necessary to launch Halo Infinite, which will come in 2021.
We have plenty to keep you busy until Chief arrives: There will be thousands of games to play, spanning four generations, when Xbox Series X launches globally this November and over 100 optimized for Xbox Series X titles, built to take full advantage of our most powerful console, are planned for this year. And with brand new console features like hardware-accelerated Direct X raytracing, frame rates up to 120 frames per second, faster loading times, and Quick Resume for multiple games, playing will look and feel better, no matter which games you choose to play on day one.
Admittedly, this is going to be a tough sell for many who want to play the latest and greatest new games right away. The fact that this console doesn't have any hot exclusives yet like Sony, who have Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales at launch, means this console might not be off to a hot start. Still, those that want to preserve gaming history and play a number of 7th generation games are probably happy with the news.
