There's been a whole lot of heartache for Marvel fans around the world this week. Marvel comic book legend and cameo king Stan Lee passed away early in the morning this Monday and everyone's been in mourning. However, while Hollywood's been busy paying tribute to the pop culture icon, Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan can only feel honored to have been part of the same film that Lee had been in while working on T'Challa's (Chadwick Boseman) first standalone movie.
Speaking in an interview together with Entertainment Tonight, Jordan was asked about his thoughts on the sudden passing of Stan Lee.
Not only did the Black Panther actor say that he felt "heartbroken" over the terrible news, but he also made it a point to mention how the comic book writer, publisher, and editor "made an impact on so many different people."
"[He] literally changed the face of entertainment in so many different ways," Jordan told the publication, "He showed people how to dream; how to escape."
And that's true. Lee had been one of the biggest names in the comic book industry, responsible for creating so many iconic Marvel characters including Iron Man, Thor, Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and so many, many others. He believed in creating human superheroes that people could believe in.
According to Jordan, he was "honored to be a part of one of the films Lee got a chance to be part of," the wildly successful MCU movie, Black Panther. Not only was the film that first black superhero standalone movie, but it was also one of the very first all-black comic book films, reminding Hollywood of the value of diversity and representation in their films.
Marvel's next film, Avengers 4, hits cinemas May 3, 2019.
