The Devil Is a Part-Timer! creator Satoshi Wagahara is making a comeback with a new light novel, though this time, MgRonald’s is no more.
That’s not just because this new novel series isn’t connected to his previous series though.
Instead, the new project’s premise has a big focus on health, so much so that in its world, junk food is shunned.
This will be an interesting title to watch out for, especially given how popular MgRonald’s is among fans of his original work.
The Devil Is a Part-Timer: Explaining the MgRonald’s Chain
MgRonald’s is a fast-food chain in the world of The Devil Is a Part-Timer!, and it’s where the protagonist, Sadao Maou, works as an assistant shift manager.
In the series, MgRonald’s is one of the main locations as the story spends a lot of time showing Maou in his workplace.
And while it’s a fictional establishment, it’s clearly a nod to the real-life fast-food giant, McDonald’s.
Why doesn’t the anime just use McDonald’s instead? Well, the staff would need to ask permission from McDonald’s, and that can be a difficult process.
The Devil Is a Part-Timer! isn’t the only series that made a knock-off of McDonald’s though as this is a common thing.
For instance, there’s Nisekoi with WcDonald’s and Mob Psycho 100 with MobDonald’s, among others.
Of course, there are also exceptions like Makoto Shinkai’s last two films, Weathering With You and Suzume.
Both movies feature actual McDonald’s locations and items prominently in some scenes.

The Devil Is a Part-Timer! Creator Is Working on a Healthy New Novel Series
Fans will need to say goodbye to MgRonald’s though as Satoshi Wagahara’s new novel series is set in a decidedly healthy world.
The new novel series is titled Shokurakuen -Meshitopia- Hōshoku Society, and it was announced by Dengeki Bunko with a new visual featuring the two main characters.
This new series is set in 2075 Japan, and at this time, society has placed a major focus on being healthy to extend people’s lifespans. Because of this, unhealthy food is shunned.
Shokurakuen’s setting is quite different from Wagahara’s previous work, though it might be unique enough to catch the attention of The Devil Is a Part-Timer! fans, despite the lack of MgRonald’s.
The light novel series will release its first volume in Japan on September 8, 2023. For now, there’s no word yet on international release plans.
