While it didn’t invent drifting, Initial D is an influential manga and anime that helped popularize drifting and street racing. It’s also the reason the Toyota AE86 continues to be an iconic classic.

The Initial D manga and anime ended in 2013 and 2014, respectively. Though series creator Shuichi Shigeno began the sequel manga MF Ghost in 2017, and it continues serialization in Weekly Young Magazine.

Last year, an anime adaptation was announced, and Felix Film, the studio behind Nekopara and Otherside Picnic, is making it.

Though the studio may not be as popular as MAPPA or A-1 Pictures, the show has a stacked voice cast. Its main cast includes:

  • Yuma Uchida (Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen) as Kanata Katagiri
  • Ayane Sakura (Ochaco Uraraka in My Hero Academia) as Ren Saionji
  • Daisuke Ono (Sebastian Michaelis in Black Butler) as Shun Aiba
  • Hiroshi Kamiya (Levi Ackerman in Attack on Titan) as Michael Beckenbauer
  • Junichi Suwabe (Archer in Fate/stay Night) as Kaito Akaba
  • Hiroki Yasumoto (Yasutora Sado in Bleach) as Fujin Ishigami
