Metallic Rouge Trailer: BONES Reveals Original Anime by Evangelion Designer, Super Crooks Director

During a recent live stream, Fuji TV revealed several new anime shows that are coming soon. One of these shows is Metallic Rouge, an anime by BONES that features a stacked staff list that includes Super Crooks’ director and an Evangelion designer.

While BONES is best known for adapting popular shonen manga such as My Hero Academia and Fullmetal Alchemist, their next project is different as it’s an original anime.

However, it should still feature the studio’s signature high-quality action sequences.

Metallic Rouge Anime Announced by Fuji TV

The recent Fuji TV showcase revealed a range of upcoming titles, one of which is another original anime that’s created by Yoko Taro of the NieR series, with help from Atsushi Ohkubo of Soul Eater fame.

Metallic Rouge is another anime original that was revealed, and at the stream, a trailer for it was shown.

Soon after, the anime’s official website and Twitter account went live.

On those official sites, the show’s first key visual was revealed, featuring the main character mid-transformation. Check it out here:

While there’s no word yet on the cast, the anime’s staff features several well-known creators.

Directing the series is Motonobu Hori, the director of anime such as Super Crooks, Carole & Tuesday, and Move to the Future.

Also part of the staff is series composer Yutaka Izubuchi who is best known for his design work on the Rebuild of Evangelion movies, as well as several Gundam shows.

Other staff members include Toshihiro Kawamoto (Cowboy Bebop's character designer), Toshizo Nemoto (Durarara!!'s scriptwriter), and Taisei Iwasaki (Belle's composer).

Given that this is an original anime, we don’t know much yet about the story aside from what was shown in the trailer. However, the new trailer does give us an idea of what to expect.

From the looks of it, the series has a sci-fi setting and will follow an android who is tasked with eliminating foes. You can check out the trailer here:

The main character in the trailer is named Rouge, and she will be joined by her partner, Naomi. Though we’ll have to wait a while before we get more info about this show.

As for its release date, Metallic Rouge is set to release in January 2024, so sci-fi fans will have to wait for nine months before this promising new original anime gets aired. But at least, it’s confirmed to stream on Crunchyroll.
