Meghan Markle is wise to skip King Charles' coronation. An expert claimed it was a smart move to avoid her critics.

Meghan Markle Not Giving Critics The Power To Mock Her?

Last week, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Harry would attend King Charles' coronation. However, his wife, Meghan Markle and their two kids — Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1 — will remain in California.

According to previous reports, Markle will stay in their $14 million mansion for Archie's birthday. However, royal expert Afua Hagan told Express another reason behind Markle's "masterstroke" decision.

She explained:

"She has taken away the ability for people to criticise what she's wearing, what she's doing, or not getting in a car the right way. People won't be able to mock her."

Hagan continued:

"That is part of the reason she didn't want to give them the sideshow she didn't want to let them tear strips off her. I think that played a huge part in her decision."

The expert believed that the former actress probably found the negative headline against her annoying when she was just supporting her husband. So, she decided not to put herself in the same position where her critics would have reason to criticize her because it's not worth it, Hagan claimed.

Meghan Markle Avoid Being Booed At The UK?

New Zealand-born British journalist and GB News presenter Dan Wootton also weighed in on the Duchess of Sussex's decision to skip King Charles' historical moment. In his opinion, Markle wanted to avoid public humiliation.

Wootton said on GB News:

"She doesn't want to be booed. The reality is, if she had attended the coronation, she would have been booed. The British public was going to boo her, and Meghan knew that, and she didn't want to put herself through that."

Wootton was convinced that if the public would give Markle a warm welcome, she would surely join Prince Harry at King Charles' coronation. However, the royal commentator speculated that Markle didn't want to take the risk, given how the British public would feel about her.

Prince Harry and Markle made their last public appearance in the UK when they attended the Thanksgiving service during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration. It was also their first public appearance after they stepped back from their royal duties in 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were welcomed with a mix of cheers and boos. Several also booed them when they were about to leave St. Paul's Cathedral.
