Meghan Markle Shock: Prince Harry's Wife Reportedly Used Royal Wedding To Make Hollywood Comeback, Royal Expert Tom Bower Claims

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding was packed with celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney and more. However, Markle allegedly took advantage of the event to prepare for her Hollywood return.

Meghan Markle Reportedly Used Royal Wedding For Hollywood Comeback

British author, investigative journalist and former BBC reporter weighed in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding in 2018. The couple invited several celebrities to witness their nuptials.

The Revenge author joined Jo Elvin on Thursday's episode of MailPlus' Palace Confidential podcast, where they talked about Markle's friendship with other celebrities after she learned that she wasn't close to Winfrey at the time of her wedding.

"Thomas Markle told me that he knew the people at the wedding better than Meghan because he filmed with them all [for] ABC and other studios," Bower said.

"Meghan didn't know Oprah, she'd met her once or a few minutes. She didn't know George Clooney, that was a passing once they met. I mean all of it was for her future. I mean, she used the wedding to build up her career when returned to Hollywood. I don't believe she ever intended to stay in Britain for long."

Meghan Markle Reportedly Has Political Ambitions And Has Always Planned To Return To California

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex only served the monarchy less than two years as they announced in January 2020 that they were stepping back from their royal duties. After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took their final engagement, they didn't wait long enough to fly outside his home country.

They stayed a couple of months in Canada before they relocated to California. If Bower said Markle had planned for a Hollywood comeback, royal pundit Lady Colin Campbell was convinced that she has plans to join American politics.

"I know the Duchess of Sussex has political ambitions and I've been told that one day she wants to run for President," Campbell told FEMAIL. "I think everything she is doing, leaving the royal family and moving back to California is part of her plan and she has taken Harry along with her."

Bower also commented on the rumors about Markle planning to run for US president in the future. The biographer believed there could be truth to it.

"I think she’d quite like a political role, I think she’ll first wait to see her children into school, she’ll build the foundations for it," Bower said on the podcast.

However, she warned Markle about two things if she wanted to pursue a political career. First, "it's very badly paid and Meghan needs a lot of money to live." Second, the duchess has "to be pretty tough" because in the U.S. she can't just sue people as she likes to for attacking her.

As for her chances of making a successful political career, Bower believed that she could probably make it.

Bower said Markle is "a very good-looking woman, she’s sassy, she’s got her issues like parental rights – there have been worse people who have been congresswomen, so there’s a good chance."
