Dickie Arbiter spoke with GB News Friday. Arbiter served as Her Majesty's press secretary from 1988 to 2000.
He spoke about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's marriage. In his opinion, they wouldn't end up together had Princess Diana lived.
"I'm going to stick my neck out here and I doubt Harry would have married Meghan because Harry wouldn't have been in the state he was in as a result of his mother's death," he was quoted by Newsweek as saying. "He would have taken a completely different course and he would still be here working in support of the Queen."

The Duke of Sussex received a go signal from a High Court judge Friday about his security case against the government. Prince Harry sought for judicial review of his security plan in the United Kingdom and offered to pay for police protection because he reportedly didn't feel safe bringing his family to his home country.
During the conversation, presenter Anne Diamond asked Arbiter what Princess Diana would think about her son's legal battle with the U.K. government.
"You can't help thinking what would Princess Diana think of all this? I wonder what she would advise her youngest son?" she said.
"If Princess Diana was alive today we would not be going through this," Arbiter said. "She had her head screwed on the right way. She was very practical and she was very sensible."
Meanwhile, Princess Diana's former voice coach, Stewart Pearce, weighed in on her reaction to Prince Harry's memoir. Pearce believed that she would have approved it because she and Prince Harry are very similar.
"Harry is so much like his mother in the sense that he has an impetuosity," he told Us Weekly. "He moves on instinct just as she did."
He added that the late Princess of Wales always wanted the truth out and even cited her interview with Andrew Morton and the infamous Panorama interview with Martin Bashir.
"Diana was gleeful about the statements that she made during those interviews," Pearce added. "Sometimes I would say, ‘Are you really going to engage yourself in that?’ … And she’d say, ‘Yeah, I’ve got to!’ and would do it."
