Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have retired from public life after they stepped down from their royal duties. However, many are wondering why they are still visible. But the Duchess of Sussex is reportedly making fewer appearances to stir the press.
Meghan Markle Allegedly Following A Plot With Fewer Appearances
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex raised some eyebrows when they relocated to California and continued making public appearances. The netizens couldn't grasp what they really wanted. The couple cited privacy as among the reasons they wanted to be private citizens. However, they are visible on TV, bookshelves, podcasts and other outlets.
But many noticed that Markle is not as much visible as her husband. Just recently, Prince Harry made a virtual appearance to promote mental health with her pal Serena Williams.
Markle's last high-profile public appearance was when she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in November. According to royal expert Neil Sean, the duchess is following a plot to make the press "so excited to see her." He compared this approach to what Hollywood star Greta Garbo did before and noticed that it is "actually working" for Markle.
Garbo was one of the most popular motion-picture stars in the 20s and 30s. She retired from public life early in her career and became an "enigma."
"Meghan's PR team or advisors really believe that every time she goes out, it should become an event," the expert said, per The News.
"And the reason behind that, it's not about vanity as such, it's about selling because as we've just explained every time Meghan does appear, people break down her hair, the makeup that she's wearing, the clothes, all that sort of stuff."
Sean suggested that Prince Harry's wife will make even fewer appearances in the future.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's Popularity Has Continued To Drop
Meanwhile, in a recent poll, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's popularity in the UK has continued to drop. Prince Harry received -13 and his approval rating was down by 27 points compared to his popularity rating in March 2021.
Meghan Markle experienced the same. The duchess received -30 and her popularity dropped by 22 points.

However, the worst case was Prince Andrew's. The Duke of York received -82 and his popularity rating dropped by 9 points.
Meanwhile, the working royals Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Camilla have all received higher approval ratings. The majority also approved the Queen's decision to make Camilla a "queen consort" in the future.
