British journalist and writer Tom Bower mentioned Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship with David and Victoria Beckham in his new book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors. According to him, there was a falling-out due to the Sussexes having trust issues with the Beckhams.
The former Suits star reportedly "suspected Victoria Beckham of indiscretion," Bower wrote, InTouch Weekly reported. "Harry called David Beckham to repeat the accusation. Outraged, Beckham’s truthful denials damaged their relationship."
Bower also claimed that the royal couple was "addicted" to reading about themselves in the press. They reportedly "scoured the internet to read the newspaper reports and trolls' posting on social media." The Sussexes were allegedly worried that their secrets were leaked through their celebrity pals, Us Weekly added.
"Irrationally, they grouped the two together and fed each other’s frenzy about the media. Convinced that as champions of goodness they were being persecuted by mendacity and racism, they felt victimized by the mildest criticism," Bower added.
Both InTouch Weekly and Us Weekly reached out to the two couples for comments but did not receive an immediate response.
Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's Friendship With Victoria and David Beckham Revisited
Us Weekly noted that it remains unclear how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stand with the Beckhams. But looking back, Victoria and David Beckham are good friends with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The celebrity couple was among the guests during Prince Harry and Markle's royal wedding in 2018. Markle has been seen wearing outfits from Victoria's fashion line for many years. 9Honey royal correspondent Natalie Oliveri told Today Extra that there was "quite a close friendship there."
Meanwhile, there was also a tight bond between the two men. In a previous interview, David spoke fondly about Prince Harry as a dad and friend.
"I haven't spoken to Harry about him moving. We speak as friends and that's the most important thing for me," he told Entertainment Tonight. "He always needs to be happy. […] We love him and he's an amazing person—and that's the most important thing—but I'm proud to see him growing up as an individual and being that person that every father wants to be."

However, another source close to the Beckhams told The Mirror that the Beckhams were closer to Prince William and Kate Middleton. In fact, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were invited to Brooklyn's wedding to Nicola Peltz, unlike the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
"David and Victoria wrote to William and Kate inviting them and the family to their son’s wedding, and William replied wishing them a great deal of joy but they are unable to attend," the source said.
"David’s attachment and history go back with William and Kate and they have a very strong relationship and they were their choice of wedding guests. It was always about them, it was never about Meghan and Harry. They are the people David and Victoria are attached to and it’s always been about them because they’ve had a long history together."
