Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly on a "path to unparalleled stardom" by starting a new form of celebrity. However, it might not sound as great as it is.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Reportedly Creating A New Form Of Celebrity

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are thriving in the United States. They were able to sign multi-million, multi-year deals with Spotify and Netflix. Although they aren't as popular in the United Kingdom, they seem to be doing well in California.

According to royal author Dylan Howard, while speaking to the 2021 Channel 5 documentary, Harry & Meghan Vs The Monarchy, the Sussexes have started a "new standard."

"They’ve created a new standard, and that is one to exploit themselves for profit," Howard said as quoted by Express. "Meghan is creating a new form of celebrity for herself by securing deals with media conglomerates in the tens and hundreds of millions of dollars."

He added, "It sets her on a path to unparalleled stardom."

At present, the couple has upcoming "at-home" docuseries on Netflix, and they will reportedly be opening the doors of their home to give their fans a view of their lives.

The royal couple hired Oscar-nominated Liz Garbus to work with them for the project. Garbus was spotted in the background when the Sussexes travelled to New York City in September. The crew reportedly hid their equipment to keep the docuseries under wraps as it wasn't announced at the time yet, Page Six reported.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's 'Juicy' Docuseries 'Smacks Of Desperation'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's fans might be excited to watch their docuseries. However, some royal experts were not impressed with the thought of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex doing a project similar to a reality show.

In a discussion in one episode of the Palace Confidential podcast, royal correspondent and author  Victoria Murphy noted that the Sussexes already denied doing a reality show. However, it isn't clear to the public what the differences are between the reality show and their docuseries.

"Is the docuseries different from a reality show? That's the question, and they haven't responded to this so far. I think it's going to be interesting to see how they [will respond]," Murphy said.

"The Kardashians do a reality show, the Sussexes do a docuseries," Daily Mail's Diary editor Richard Eden jokingly replied.

Dickie Arbiter, a former press spokesman for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, said Prince Harry and Markle's docuseries, which claimed to be "juicy," "smacks of desperation" and contradicts their "desire for privacy."

"This smacks of desperation because Netflix has cut productions. It's got 'The Crown' coming out in November, which is a very costly production," he said on the podcast. "Harry's got his memoir coming out either before or just after, and Netflix wants to show this docuseries to coincide with it all."

An unnamed source recently told New York Post's Page Six that the streaming giant wants to release Sussexes' docuseries later this year to tie in with "The Crown" and Prince Harry's upcoming memoir.
