Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are flying to the U.K. with their children. Their daughter, Lilibet, will celebrate her 1st birthday with the royals, but Prince William and Kate Middleton will not be able to attend it due to prior engagements.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Hosting A Birthday Party For Daughter Lilibet

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their daughter, Lilibet, last year. She will turn 1 year old on Saturday.

To mark the event, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are hosting a birthday bash for her in Frogmore Cottage. The family will be in England to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be a hundred miles away and won't make it to their niece's birthday. Prince William and Kate Middleton were set to visit Wales as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Daily Mail reported.

The Cambridges will be meeting the performers and crew involved in a special concert at Cardiff Castle. Although Prince Harry's brother and sister-in-law will not be around for the celebration, his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, will reportedly be there.

It will be the first time for the 96-year-old British monarch to meet Prince Harry's daughter. The royal family hasn't met Prince Harry's second child yet as Markle gave birth to her in California, and they haven't visited the U.K. as a family prior to their trip this week.

Prince William and Middleton also didn't meet Prince Harry and Markle when they visited the Queen in April before heading to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands. The Cambridge family was away for a skip trip in the French Alps.

Although Prince William and Middleton would miss the opportunity to celebrate Lili's 1st birthday, Prince Charles' two sons are reportedly holding weekly zoom chats in an attempt to heal their relationship.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Slammed For Bringing Kids To Queen's Platinum Jubilee

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex probably decided to bring their children to the U.K. this time because their daughter will be celebrating her 1st birthday, and it will be sad if they are far from each other on that occasion. However, royal biographer Angela Levin slammed the Sussexes earlier for the timing.

The Harry: A Biography of a Prince author doesn't think it's the perfect timing to bring the little Sussexes. For her, it will be an additional burden to the Queen.

"I do actually think it's also wrong to bring their small children over at this time," Levin said on GB News. "The Queen is going to be very, very heavily in demand. There's going to be a lot she has to do. And it's quite hard for her because she hasn't got the energy, and she hasn't got the mobility."

Levin said the royal couple based in California could return to the U.K. "quietly and nicely" for an intimate reunion of their children and the Queen. She speculated that bringing their kids may have something to do with their rumored Netflix documentary.

"But now, with so much going on, I just think it's a wrong time. And it's obviously chosen, in my view, to actually make more money out of Netflix," she claimed.
