Star Wars: The High Republic Shares New Look at Jedi Padawans in These Amazing Images

While Star Wars may be taking a hiatus from the big screen, Lucasfilm is set to focus on more expanded universe material. Just in, we have some new images of the upcoming padawans of the High Republic era, Burryaga, Reath Silas, Lula Talisola, and Bell Zettifar. Get to know the padawans more in these character descriptions.

These come from StarWars.com:

"Bell Zettifar is apprenticed to the legendary Loden Greatstorm, and he hopes he survives the experience… "He and his master are currently stationed at a Jedi Outpost on the ore-world of Elphrona, deep in the Outer Rim, where they work to keep the peace and spread the light," says Light of the Jedi author Charles Soule.

"Burryaga is one of the few Wookiees to travel from the lush forests of Kashyyyk to study in the ornate halls of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant… While he is skilled with his two-handed lightsaber, it is Burryaga's natural, effortless ability to sense the emotions of others that sets him apart from other members of the Order."

Lula Talisolais ‘all about the Jedi Order', and writer Daniel Jose Older shares, "She loves it, can hardly wait to get Knighted, and wants to be the best Jedi that ever was. Besides being amazing and top of her class with a lightsaber, she's loyal and compassionate and looks out for her two best friends, Farzala and Qort. Especially when they're causing mischief."

"[Reath Silas has] had a somewhat privileged apprenticeship because his master, Jora Malli, is a member of the Jedi Council. That means he's spent a lot more time on Coruscant, in elevated diplomatic meetings, and that kind of thing — so the frontier is going to be a huge transition for him… Reath's learning what he's really made of," shares Claudia Gray, writer of Into the Dark

I'll admit, the names are still a tad confusing, but that's really something you can expect when it comes to the expanded Star Wars canon. By the looks of it, the High Republic looks to be attempting a Lord of the Rings/Game of Thrones-style lore, and we get a bunch of new planets plus different types of Jedi.

While I'm admittedly not a lore nut like some fans, I'm sure there are Star Wars fans who will have The High Republic right down their alley. Hopefully, down the line, we can get a movie out of this era if it ever gets popular enough.

Star Wars: The High Republic launches on Jan. 5, 2021.
