Marvel's Echo Producer Promises a 'Very Different' MCU Series

One of the many MCU series that is currently in the works is the Hawkeye spinoff Echo which centers on Alaqua Cox's Maya Lopez/Echo. While production for the project has already finished, most of the plot details are still being kept under wraps but fans are looking forward to seeing what they have in store.

There have also been rumors that the production for the series is experiencing some behind-the-scenes troubles although none of the people involved have commented or confirmed that such a situation is happening as it is heading to its supposed release later this year.

In a recent interview with Collider, Marvel Studios executive and series producer Stephen Broussard gave some updates on Echo where he assured that production is "going well" and teased that it will be "very different" from the other MCU projects that have been done before.

"[Production on ‘Echo’] is going well. It's very different. Like, talking about Werewolf by Night to this. It's a very different tonal sort of thing. I don't want to say too much because there's not a whole lot out there in the world, but it feels very grounded, it feels very spiritual in ways that feel fresh for us," he said.

"Alaqua as the lead is incredibly compelling. I'm sort of hard-pressed to think of something that it feels like outside in the broader realm of the MCU, let alone within what we've done here. So stay tuned on that really cool stuff."

Broussard also discussed the importance of doing genres and tones in the MCU and embracing their shifting in the future of the franchise in order to keep it fresh.

"It's always about embracing whatever it is, right? Like embracing a Universal Hammer Horror film, kind of leaning into that and, I think leaning into what's unique about any viewing property," the producer continued.

"What's unique about this property is that it's much more grounded, and it's in rural Oklahoma, which is where it takes place. So it's fun, and it's been an amazing teamwork, and working with that team behind the scenes."

It is interesting to hear that Echo will be "very different" from the rest of the MCU which probably makes fans wonder about how it will be unique in terms of its tone and style aside from the fact that a lot of actors in its main cast are of Native American heritage.
