Matt Reeves' Gotham PD Series Set to be a Prequel to Robert Pattinson's The Batman

In case you missed it, there will be a separate DC Universe revolving around The Batman. In addition to the upcoming Robert Pattinson film, there has been a spin-off show that will be available on HBO Max that is set to focus on the Gotham City Police Department. However, fans probably shouldn't expect to see the Twilight star showing up in the series. It has been revealed that the Gotham PD show will be a prequel to the movie.

It was previously reported that director Matt Reeves will be teaming up with Terence Winter to develop the new series for HBO Max. The show will be set in the same universe as The Batman and is said to explore the criminal underworld of Gotham City as the police department struggle to maintain the peace.

But will Pattinson make an appearance in the show? An insider tweeted that this probably isn't happening since the series will be a prequel to The Batman.

"No idea if Patz will make man appearance but what I have learned is that it be set before when THE BATMAN is set and dive into how Gotham became corrupt and infested with criminals," they wrote.

Although it's unlikely that we'll see Bruce Wayne walking around in the show, there's one major character who could play a huge role in the upcoming project. Some believe that Jeffrey Wright, who has been confirmed to play James Gordon in The Batman, could be one of the main characters in the series.

The new show has not yet been given an official release date. In the meantime, The Batman is already scheduled for release on October 1, 2021.
