Hyun Jung plays the role of Kim Mo Mi, an ordinary office worker who has self-esteem issues. She believes she is ugly, which is why she puts on a mask to do a live stream at night.

This is Hyun Jung's second Netflix Original series. Prior to Mask Girl, Hyun Jung starred in Reflection of You, which aired in 2021.

The next cast member to be announced is Ahn Jae Hong, who plays Mo Mi's colleague, Joo Oh Nam. He secretly has a crush on Mo Mi.

He was previously a guest star in Kingdom Season 2 as a royal official. This is his first lead role in a Netflix Original.

Yum Hye Ran is no stranger to K-drama shows on Netflix. She has starred in several shows, such as Juvenile Justice, The Glory, Alchemy of Souls, and The Uncanny Counter.

In Mask Girl, Hye Ran plays the role of Kim Kyung Ja, Oh Nam's mother.

Another actress making her debut on Netflix is Nana, a previous member of the K-Pop group After School.

In an interview with Variety director and writer Kim Yong-hoon explained that there are three versions of the character.

Yong-hoon described these three versions as "injured, marginalized individuals."

The official synopsis on Netflix reads:

"An office worker who is insecure about her looks becomes a masked internet personality by night – until a chain of ill-fated events overtakes her life."

Mask Girl is basically a thriller series that follows the life of an ordinary office worker who has a different life outside of the office.

When she's not working, she live streams from her home with a mask on her face. This is because she is insecure about her appearance.

Unfortunately, things take a dark turn when she becomes embroiled in an incident.
