The Marvel Cinematic Universe has long boasted an impressive roster of actors and considering its untapped material, it would be safe to say that more A-list stars are on their way to the billion-dollar franchise.

Now, it appears that Marvel Studios is quite adamant about securing a huge name for the long-awaited X-Men reboot and it's someone who will certainly put more eyes into the MCU.

According to a recent rumor floating around on X, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson could be MCU-bound if Marvel Studios gets its way. The alleged scoop claims that the studio is eyeing the Hollywood juggernaut and WWE megastar to be involved in the anticipated reboot.

Who could The Rock play, you ask? Well, the rumor says that the studio wants him to play Apocalypse aka one of the mutants' most fiercest foes but of course, take this one with a huge grain of salt.

As it stands, the studio has yet to confirm when the mutants' MCU chapter commences but it's worth noting that the Multiverse Saga is still ongoing and the arrival of the X-Men might not begin until after Avengers: Secret Wars.

It wouldn't be Johnson's first rodeo in the world of superheroes. The actor previously played Black Adam in the DC Extended Universe and while things initially looked promising for him, the film failed to hit the mark with fans and the franchise would later be rebooted courtesy of James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Meanwhile, the MCU will get its first true taste of the mutants in Deadpool & Wolverine, hitting cinemas on July 26, 2024.
