Nick Fury has been a main fixture in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its inception back in 2008 and it's quite astonishing that the beloved character, played by Samuel L. Jackson continues to be treated as a major player in the billion-dollar franchise. However, it looks like the powers that be have decided that Fury is no longer fit to serve as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and they are handing over the reins to you, the fans.

The comic book giant's newly-launched card battler game Marvel Snap just released an ad featuring the brains behind the Avengers Initiative and he's evidently infuriated after learning that he's been terminated as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s main man.

Things got even more intense as Fury finds out that he has been replaced by a random person playing Marvel Snap. In a video posted across his social media pages, Jackson wrote: "Effective today, I’m being replaced as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Because now, @MarvelSnap gives players control over the entire Marvel Universe. You think you can do as good of a job as I did? We'll see about that." Check it out here:

On the MCU side of things, even though Fury is no longer the director of SHIELD, he still plays a significant role in the franchise. In case you didn't know, Jackson is set to headline the upcoming Secret Invasion series which will finally see the Skrulls embrace their true villain nature and plot their master plan to take over the world.

No official release date has been set for Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion but it is expected to hit Disney+ in Spring 2023.
