Marvel President Kevin Feige Addresses Why Young Avengers Was Missing for Phase 5

Marvel Studios SDCC Panel last Saturday dropped some major announcements and an official first look at upcoming projects that will pave the future of the mega-franchise. However, some fans were disappointed after one long-awaited project did not make it to Phase 5’s lineup, and that is no other than the Young Avengers. Thankfully, in a recent interview, Marvel President Kevin Feige finally addresses why the young heroes were missing for Phase 5.

"We’ve got… we’re sort of reminding people of all the amazing characters that we have introduced in Phase 4 and sort of where those characters go and how they how they form their own their own cliques," Feige told MTV News' Josh Horowitz following Marvel Studios' panel at SDCC.

"Now, all of us at Marvel Studios feel like Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man 1, as new actors and new performers come in and we tell them they’re part of a bigger universe," Feige added. "They just now have to do the work required to build their audience. I’m happy to say everybody that’s here, certainly where I’m sitting now, is doing amazing work and [I] can’t wait to show them the world."

There's no denying that a Young Avengers project is positively attainable at this point as the current MCU roadmap constantly hints at their arrival, most especially now that the lineup is seemingly complete following Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel debut. Sadly, it looks like Phase 5 isn't just the perfect time for the youngsters to take a lead on the franchise.

It's also worth noting how two of the potential Young Avengers members teased how their arrival was only just the beginning, and there's so much more ahead in the future. "I mean, listen, this feels so crazy to me right now just sitting here with this group of people," Steinfeld told Comicbook.com prior to Hawkeye's release. "I’m so grateful to be a part of this show in this universe, and it’s only the beginning. This show's not even out, so I’m looking forward to that day."

While Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani previously admitted that the Young Avengers project could happen, fans just have to persuade Feige first. “I feel like Marvel could do something like that, right? There should be something. There’s one man you’ll have to convince,” Vellani said.
