Marvel is once again expressing support for the Black Lives Movement, this time by giving the spotlight to the work of black writers and artists on Marvel Unlimited.
Posting on its official website, Marvel has announced that it would be offering a free digital selection of comics from Black writers and artists. This includes comics like the comic book anthology Marvel's Voices, the comic book Black Panther and the Crew by Ta-Nehhisi Coates and Yona Harvey, Power Man and Iron Fist: The Boys are Back in Town, Black Panther: World of Wakanda by Roxane Gay, Yona Harvey, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and Rembert Browne, and so many others.
"Black voices, creators, and characters are an intertwined part of Marvel history. These comics aim to celebrate their legacies, whether stretching back decades or just this year," Marvel wrote in its announcement.
All Marvel fans have to do to access the free comics is to download or update the Marvel Unlimited app for Android or for IOS and then click "Free Comics" on the landing screen.
This move to share the comics of Black storytellers and creatives is one of Marvel's initiatives to help support the Black Lives Matter campaign. The studio, together with Disney and Star Wars, has sent out a statement in solidarity for the campaign against racial discrimination and police brutality.
The Black Lives Matter movement became a massive force after the death of African American man George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police. Protests continue to rage around the country as citizens demand justice not only for Floyd but for many others like him who were killed at the hands of police.
