Marvel Gives Carnage An Origin Story Too Twisted For The Big Screen

It looks like it's going to be harder to bring Carnage to the big screen. From the very start, the Symbiote has always been a horrid comic book villain, but now it looks like Marvel is going to top off Carnage's atrocities, adding cannibalism to the sociopath and murderer's list of terrifying qualities.

According to Screen Rant, Marvel's been tweaking Carnage's origin story in a new series serving as a tie-in to Sony's upcoming Venom live-action movie. The November solicits from Marvel have just recently revealed that the publishing company has been working together with Sony to help introduce Venom. The company has just recently commissioned a number of tie-ins to the movie, and that includes the Web of Venom: Carnage, a miniseries that adds to the Symbiote's origin story, turning him into an even more terrifying villain.

The solicit for Web of Venom: Carnage reads:

"Join DONNY CATES as he continues to snake his tendrils through the VENOM mythos – this time visiting the sickening sociopath called CARNAGE! A cruel cannibal obsessed with death and murder, few mourned Cletus Kasady after he seemingly died in VENOMIZED. But now a cult devoted to the madman has gathered, hoping to resurrect their fallen idol and return his madness to the Marvel Universe..."

Seeing Cletus Kasady being turned into "a cruel cannibal" is absolutely frightening. Carnage might have commented about the taste of human flesh before, but for the series to explicitly describe Kasady as a cannibal suggests that there's going to be a whole lot of flesh-eating in Web of Venom: Carnage. It's not just Carnage going on murder sprees anymore – it's also about the Symbiote feasting on the flesh of humans. We wonder how Sony is going to translate this one on the big screen.

Venom hits cinemas on October 5.
