Marvel Fanbase Outraged After Black Panther Cast Forgets To Thank Stan Lee When Winning SAG Awards

Marvel's Black Panther movie might be earning Oscar nominations and winning awards left and right, but it looks like some Marvel fans aren't particularly happy with T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and the rest of the Black Panther team right now.

According to ComicBook.com, fans were upset watching this year's Screen Actors Guild Awards. Black Panther won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards, and while the win is another reason to celebrate the film, the standalone movie's cast forgot to thank the late Marvel Legend Stan Lee when they were up on stage.

Instead, when Boseman went upstage to accept the award together with his castmates Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B. Jordan, Sterling K. Brown, Danai Gurira, Andy Serkis and Angela Basset, the Black Panther star put the spotlight elsewhere. In his acceptance speech, Boseman decided to thank the "genius" director of the film, Ryan Coogler, Disney execs Bob Iger and Alan Horn, producers Victoria Alonso and Nate Moore, Marvel Studios vice-president Louis D'Esposito, as well as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

There was no mention of Stan Lee or Jack Kirby, the Marvel Comic Book legends who co-created the character. Worse than that, Lee was also excluded from the Screen Actors Guild Awards in memoriam segment – an outrage considering everything that Stan the Man's done for the comic book film industry.

Thankfully, Jordan didn't forget Lee or Kirby, telling assembled press that the world the two build was the foundation of the film's success.

What do you think of Boseman forgetting Stan Lee? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
