Marvel Expected to Revive Daredevil and the Rest of The Defenders

Marvel fans were pretty devastated when Netflix began axing its Marvel TV projects in 2018. Luke Cage and Iron Fist were the first to go in October last year. Then after that, Netflix decided to cancel Daredevil, one of the most critically-acclaimed projects out of all of Marvel TV's shows on the streaming platform. Defenders got axed soon after, and so was The Punisher and Jessica Jones.

Now, as Marvel moves on to Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, word on the street has it that Marvel Studios may be considering reviving a few of the series.

According to a report by ComicBook.com, Marvel fans may see the members of the Defenders making their way back to the spotlight on Disney+. Now that the Mickey Mouse House has a streaming platform of its own, it seems likely that Marvel would consider bringing back in Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist.

The first round of speculation came from MCU Cosmic. The site wrote a piece suggesting that there would be hope for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher, and The Defenders, reminding fans that one of the main reasons why these well-loved series never got revived was because of the 2-year contract that Netflix had over these characters.

According to the contract, Marvel wasn't allowed to feature any of the characters involved in these series until two years after their cancellation. Now that we're approaching the expiry of that agreement, there's nothing really holding Marvel back from reviving the series – though we do wonder whether the studio would consider bringing each project's original cast.

Let's wait and see.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on May 1, 2020.
