Marvel Editor-in-Chief Says More Chris Claremont X-Men Stories are Coming

Chris Claremont is one of the most influential writers Marvel has ever had. His lengthy run on Uncanny X-Men was legendary and fans are willing to see more from the legendary writer. Even though he's contracted to Marvel he hasn't really written many stories recently, aside from a short tale in the X-Men: Wedding Special and the 12-issue Nightcrawler series that came out years ago.

Things seem to be looking up for him though. Claremont is slated to write an X-Men Black one-shot that focuses on Magneto and now, Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski has stated that there would be more X-Men material coming from the legendary writer.

As revealed by the Word Balloon podcast, Cebulski confirmed that Marvel is going to let Claremont tell more X-Men stories in the near future. He didn't say which X-Men comic Claremont would be handling so we'll have to wait and see what the prolific writer has in mind for us.

"With Chris, we will be seeing more from Chris in the X-Men Universe in the near future. I grew up on those stories, I love Chris, and he has a lot of things he still wants to say with those characters. We are gonna let him tell more tales very soon."

Fans might love Claremont but the writer has had his fair share of misses in recent memory. While his Nightcrawler run wasn't bad, comic fans didn't like how he handled Exiles and Excalibur during the mid-2000's. There are also those who took umbrage with his New Age run of Uncanny X-Men, though the run does have some fans.

Only time will tell if Claremont's return to the X-Men is a good thing but it will be interesting to see what he brings to the table.
