Marvel Comics Writer Remembers When Stan Lee Stopped Traffic In The Middle Of Times Square

The whole world shook when it learned that Marvel comic book legend Stan Lee had passed away due to health complications. Posting online, fans, friends, and colleagues of Lee have been sharing tributes to the comic book legend and according to the story of Marvel Comics Writer Daniel Way, the cameo king once stopped traffic in Times Square.

Way's little tribute to Lee was one of the stories that stood out because of its vivaciousness. Taking to Twitter to honor the comic book legend, the comic book writer behind comics like Deadpool and Wolverine: Origins mentioned one of his best stories about Lee.

According to Way, he had been leaving Marvel HQ one day and bumped into Lee who had been visiting the comic book publishing house on the same day.

"Off we all went me apart from the group of people around Stan half a block behind, down 7th Ave to Times Square. Which, I s**t you not, came to a standstill," Way said in his tweet. "I don't know how it started but within a minute or two, Stan was absolutely engulfed by people."

According to Way, Lee stopped traffic right smack center in one of the biggest parts of New York City – Time Square.

"He was standing there, smiling and signing random things that people were poking towards him, the crowd spilling off the curb and into the street, which could've meant certain death for those people...except for the fact, the cabs were stopping, too," the comic book writer elaborated.

Lee's little game didn't last for long though. Apparently Lee's little traffic stopping bit only lasted for 10 minutes before the cops came long to take Stan away to the Javits center with the help of the New York Police Department.

"Now this last part, I was only told about — I didn't see it myself," the comic book writer reflected. "But what I was told was, when Stan was delivered to the Javits, there was a bunch of other NYPD officers waiting for him...to get his autograph. And He signed every one of them."

Now that's quite a story, don't you think? How about you, what's your favorite Stan Lee story? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
