Marvel Comics Reveals New Costume for Wolverine

Some big changes have been made to the Return of Wolverine mini-series and that includes a change in wardrobe. Moon Knight artist Declan Shalvey will now be joining the series, drawing issues #2 to #4 while the previously solicited Steve McNiven is going to illustrate issue #1 and issue #5. Shalvey has also designed a new black and red costume for Wolverine and it is an interesting look for the returning hero.

Talking with Marvel.com, Shalvey said that he was honored to work on a Wolverine project as big as this and being able to work with colorist Laura Martin and writer Charles Soule. He has also acknowledged that he has huge shoes to fill, replacing Steve McNiven in three of the five issues that McNiven was originally solicited for.

Old-school Wolverine fans are probably thinking that this new costume is a tribute to Logan's old costume that was a simple singlet and tights. It might have been all black and he was also not masked, hence the similarities.

Personally, as someone who loves Wolverine's Hawkeye mask, this is a pretty cool look for the hero to adapt. It differentiates him enough from the rest of the Marvel universe and is simple enough that people will recognize who he is.

Return of Wolverine #2 comes out in October.
