Marvel Announces 'Free Comic Book Day Avengers #1' Just in Time for Avengers: Endgame

If you're feeling down after Avengers: Endgame comes out in April, Marvel has something for you in the next week. For Free Comic Book Day, Marvel has announced FCBD Avengers #1 which will feature a tale from current Avengers writer Jason Aaron and West Coast Avengers artist Stefano Caselli. The company is also promising a "unique, dynamic, and deadly" version of the team from writer Gerry Duggan and acclaimed artist Mike Deodato Jr.

Aaron's story will feature the current roster of The Avengers, so fans who are enjoying seeing Black Panther, Blade, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Ghost Rider, Iron Man, She-Hulk, and Thor together are in for a good time. Newbies who aren't familiar with this team should be able to jump in on the comic and maybe pick up the first paperback after.

The story from Gerry Duggan seems to hint at a new Avengers title that will likely be darker than the current book. Hell, it might be a relaunch of Dark Avengers, which takes the concept of Thunderbolts but makes it more marketable. This is all just pure speculation of course but it would be cool to see the group return.

Or, this could just be a new Squadron Supreme book. Marvel has been teasing a showdown between the two teams, with a newly revived Phil Coulson repping the Justice League stand-ins.

FCBD Avengers #1 comes out on the first weekend of May, along with a number of other free comics.
