Any MCU fan wouldn’t forget that one of the best things to ever happen in the Thor franchise was when Taika Waititi directed Thor: Ragnarok featuring Chris Hemsworth’s Thor tandem with Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk throughout the film. Seeing as Thor: Love and Thunder failed to do the same, Ruffalo throws shade at Thor: Love and Thunder for not including him.
“I have a soft spot for Chris Hemsworth. So, I keep waiting for them to invite me back to the Thor franchise to save it…” Ruffalo told a fan, after recently attending at Emerald City Comic-Con 2023, when asked if the Hulk actor would love to do a buddy-cop movie with Hemsworth, “That’s a joke… I’m canceled…”
Thor: Love and Thunder’s box office score tied in with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in being the lowest among the other MCU films. Ruffalo might be onto something here.
Considering that Taika Waititi also helmed this, the MCU fans were not impressed by the fourth installment not living up to their expectations, in spite of the film’s attempt to feature Natalie Portman’s return as well as Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher.

Now, as for Hulk’s return in the MCU, Mark Ruffalo’s rumored solo Hulk movie is seemingly happening. In fact, in a previous interview, Ruffalo made it clear that he would be more than willing to return:
“I mean, I’ll probably [be Hulk] as long as they’ll have me, if people are interested, and I can bring something that’s interesting to me to it, and interesting to the fans. But I have no idea.” Ruffalo told Variety, “I mean, you know, when you look at the comics, there’s some pretty grizzled, old versions of him. I’m like, OK, the 67-year-old Hulk, that would be interesting — if all of us are still here making movies and there’s a world that allows us to do that anymore.”
