2023 is a monumental year for James Gunn as it marks the final time we'll see him be involved in a Marvel project. After the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in May, the director who has been an integral part of the MCU since 2014 will be shifting his complete energy and focus to the DC Universe, a franchise that is set for a massive reboot.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has been very supportive of Gunn's next career step as DC Studios co-CEO proving that there's no bad blood between the two. But according to a tenured MCU star, the folks over at Marvel should be worried about Gunn's grand DCU scheme.

Making an appearance at the Emerald City Comic Con (via The Direct), Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo said that James Gunn's appointment as one of DC Studios' top executives could spell major trouble for Marvel Studios.

The She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star said: "I would say, hire James Gunn, cause nobody does it better. And Marvel should be sweating because James Gunn is a really gifted filmmaker and I think he's going to be amazing for that franchise."

Gunn's track record in the MCU has been nothing short of astonishing, with both Guardians of the Galaxy films receiving critical acclaim. When he finally made the jump to the DCU to helm The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, James pretty much proved that his triumph in the Marvel realm was no fluke.

The DCU's first chapter begins with Superman: Legacy in 2025. As for Ruffalo, rumors claim his solo Hulk film is finally in the works.
