The original Star Wars trilogy is often regarded as one of the best things to happen in science fiction and pop culture and it's something that isn't up for debate. However, if we're being completely honest, not everything that came out of the franchise's humble beginnings was top notch and even the actors themselves aren't shy to admit it.

Of course, most of you already know that we're talking about the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. The CBS television special originally aired on November 17, 1978, and right off the bat, it just didn't click with fans of the franchise. Some critics even described it as a bad episode of Saturday Night Live which definitely says something.

While the actors that appeared in the one-off special would rather leave memories of the "Holiday Special" behind, Mark Hamill can't seem to escape its shadow, and year after year, he's reminded of the dreadful special on social media. After being tagged by a fan on a Twitter post celebrating its 44th anniversary, the Luke Skywalker actor was once again forced to admit that it was actually bad.

In a hilarious tweet, the 71-year-old actor wrote: "There's a reason it aired only once."

The negative connotation attached to the Star Wars Holiday Special is mainly the reason why Marvel fans had concerns about James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. To its credit though, it's actually getting rave reviews from critics who have already seen it so I guess Gunn learned from the 1978 special's mistakes.
