2023 is a monumental year for the Star Wars franchise as Return of the Jedi is celebrating its 40th year this month. Naturally, the film that concluded the original trilogy has once again become a topic of discussion online and the chatter has ranged from serious to just plain silly.
Just recently, a sequence in the 1983 film featuring Luke Skywalker sparked debate on Twitter. The scene in question sees the Jedi Master kicking one of Jabba the Hutt's soldiers and sending him falling to the Sarlacc pit without any sort of physical contact.

Later dubbed by fans as the "Force kick", it was actually a stunt mistake Lucasfilm just rolled with and has since become a running joke within the Star Wars fandom. Turns out, the discourse caught the attention of Mark Hamill who is finally addressing Luke's "controversial" ability.
Mark Hamill Acknowledges Luke Skywalker's "Force Kick"
Responding to a question from Twitter user @StarWars0nly asking fans whether or not the stunt blooper bothers them, Hamill offered a witty remark saying that no one should be disturbed by his "widely celebrated, perfectly executed" Force kick.
Hamill hilariously answered back: "How could anyone possibly be bothered by my widely celebrated, perfectly executed Force-Kick?!" Check it out here:

In other Mark Hamill news, the acting legend recently expressed his desire to step away from playing a younger version of Luke Skywalker. The 71-year-old actor, with the help of a stand-in and Lucasfilm's facial capture technology, has been able to make cameo appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
When asked if he's still down to doing more projects centered on a young Luke, Hamill said he'd much rather see Lucasfilm cast an "age-appropriate" actor. Hopefully, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni actually listen because they call the shots anyway.
