Mark Hamill Admits He Hasn't Finished Watching The Star Wars Holiday Special

The Star Wars Holiday Special is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary, having been released on November 18, 1978. Interestingly, Mark Hamill has just admitted he still hasn't finished watching the infamous TV film.

Hamill recently reacted to a Twitter post about the Star Wars Holiday Special, which asked followers if they have seen the 1978 movie. The Star Wars: The Last Jedi actor had a cheeky response to the tweet. Check it out below.

It's interesting that Hamill probably watched some of the film but didn't stick around to see how it concluded. Naturally, fans were curious why he hasn't seen it all the way through. Some wondered if it had something to do with Chef Gormaanda's cooking show or the introduction of Boba Fett in a cartoon.

The Holiday Special featured Hamill with his Star Wars co-stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, and Anthony Daniels. Kenny Baker, who played R2-D2, was not in the TV movie. Instead, the droid was played by a radio-controlled unit that was operated by George Lucas' receptionist.

Although fans were hoping that Hamill will actually watch the film until the end to celebrate its 40th anniversary, the actor might be too busy to do so. Hamill is currently working on Star Wars: Episode IX, which is expected to feature Luke Skywalker at his peak as a Jedi Master. There are speculations that Luke will not appear as a Force ghost but as a powerful Jedi in flashbacks.

Star Wars: Episode IX has not yet been given an official title. Nevertheless, the sequel is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.
