Mark Gatiss Teases His Return In Game Of Thrones Season 8 And Sherlock Season 5

He might not be playing a tremendously important character in Game of Thrones yet Mark Gatiss has spoken about his possible return in the final season. In addition to that, the man who plays Mycroft Holmes offered a surprising update on Sherlock Season 5.

Gatiss played a small yet vital role in the seventh season of Game of Thrones when Cersei Lannister needed the help of the Iron Bank of Braavos. His Tycho Nestoris was the one who suggested to the Lannisters that they should rob the Tyrells. Unfortunately, Tycho might not be returning to support Cersei in the final season as Gatiss confirmed with Shortlist.

"I'm not in it, so I guess I survive. Although they might just mention offhand that I've had my head bitten off by a dragon off-screen or something."

It might be unlikely that Gatiss will show up in Game of Thrones Season 8. However, he has confirmed that the cast of Sherlock is still eager to return for a fifth season when their schedules clear up in the future.

"We'd like to do more, but it's very tough to schedule because of everyone's availability. It has to be the right time. We left it in a place where we could come back; Sherlock could knock on Watson's door and say, 'Do you want to come out and play?' They might be middle-aged men by that point, but I don't think a little break would do anyone any harm."

Gatiss is certainly a busy man. He plays a major role in the Disney film Christopher Robin and has just completed work on the Colin Firth movie The Mercy. Gatiss is also set to appear in the drama The Favourite later this year. It looks like fans will need to wait a few years before Sherlock Season 5 becomes a reality.

Game of Thrones Season 8 is expected to premiere on HBO in early 2019.
