With the film premiering today in Japanese cinemas, a new trailer for Suzume no Tojimari was released, revealing the film’s two theme songs. The new trailer was uploaded on the official TOHO YouTube channel.
As with his previous films, the next Makoto Shinkai movie features music by the popular Japanese band, RADWIMPS. Though it also features a song by an unexpected performer.

Suzume no Tojimari – The Newest Shinkai Film Following Your Name, Weathering With You Success
Suzume no Tojimari is the next movie by Makoto Shinkai, a world-renowned anime director. The film was originally announced in late 2021, and its first trailer was shared back in April.
The upcoming movie follows Suzume, a 17-year-old girl living in a town in Kyushu.
She soon meets a young man who is looking for a mysterious door that they find at an abandoned house in the mountains. But as soon as Suzume reached out to the door, she gets pulled in.
In the aftermath of this encounter, mysterious doors begin appearing all over Japan, followed by a wave of disasters.
Because of this, Suzume must journey across Japan to lock the doors and prevent further destruction.
Anime fans are probably already familiar with Makoto Shinkai, but for those who aren’t, he is currently one of the most popular anime directors in Japan and internationally.
Shinkai gained renown for his film, 5 Centimeters per Second. Though he became a household name after the release of the smash hit Your Name which became one of Japan’s top-earning movies of all time.
This was followed by Weathering With You in 2019 which proved to be another big hit both critically and commercially.
Because of this, there’s a lot of hype for his upcoming film, Suzume no Tojimari.

Suzume no Tojimari New Trailer, Theme Songs
The first theme song, entitled Kanata Haruka, is performed by RADWIMPS.
Aside from this song, RADWIMPS also composed the film’s soundtrack, similar to Shinkai’s previous two movies.
Meanwhile, the other song is entitled Suzume, which is performed by Toaka, a popular TikTok singer in Japan.
While Toaka may not be known outside Japan, it won’t be surprising to see fans from overseas discover the singer upon the film’s release.
While the new Shinkai movie is now screening in Japanese cinemas, the film is not yet available in international theaters.
However, the movie is confirmed to release outside Japan soon.
