Wizards of the Coast

Remember those Magic: The Gathering treasure artifact tokens introduced in Ixalan? The one that can produce one mana of any color when you sacrifice it? Well, they're back in the upcoming set, Ravnica Allegiance. When Wizards of the Coast revealed one of the rare Ravnica Allegiance cards, Smothering Tithe, fans learned that treasure tokens won't just strictly be for the Ixalan block, and now, Magic head designer Mark Rosewater has confirmed that treasure tokens will appear in other sets.

"Treasure has become deciduous," Rosewater said on his Blogatog. "Clue tokens have not, but maybe one day they could.

It would be interesting to see how treasure tokens will be represented in other sets. It would be nice to see different styles of artwork that we've never seen in the Ixalan block.

Though Wizards of the Coast haven't revealed the treasure token from the new set yet, we know that it will have the same text as what we've seen from Ixalan.

Do you think it's a good idea to make treasure tokens deciduous? Should clue tokens also make a comeback in other sets? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Pre-release events for Ravnica Allegiance will take place on January 19, 2019; the set will officially be released on January 25.
