Magic: The Gathering Organized Play Suspension Extended Through Commander Legends Prerelease

Wizards of the Coast suspended Magic: The Gathering organized play back in March in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and the company recently extended its suspension through November 11. The extension now affects prerelease events for Commander Legends, which was already delayed due to production challenges related to the virus.

"We know players are excited for this release, and for that reason we've decided to move the launch back to provide all players a complete Magic experience at the same time," Wizards of the Coast said when announcing the delay to Commander Legends. "We continue to adapt to a world transformed, and we appreciate your continued patience as we manage these new challenges. We plan to deliver our products as soon as it is both feasible and safe, and we will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our employees and partners."

Commander Legends is the first-ever Commander set designed to be drafted. The official preview for the set hasn't started yet, but some cards have already been leaked.

WotC will provide another update to their suspension policy on Nov. 11, and Commander Legends will be available starting Nov. 20.
