Wizards of the Coast has announced that Magic: The Gathering Online is teaming up with Gen Con and Pastimes this year to feature unique gaming experiences online.
The Magic at Gen Con Online events are scheduled on July 30 and run through August 2. While Wizards will be hosting the special events, Pastimes will manage the engry and prizes for them.
There's a special Gen Con cube, and other event formats include Vintage, Legacy, and Double Masters. The company also announced that they are testing a new feature with Gen Con Online that will let players build decks for the Legacy and Vintage events without having the cards in their collection. This is similar to several Magic: The Gathering Arena events where players are given access to the entire card pool for a particular set or format for the duration of the events.
This would be a great feature to permanently have in MTGO. I'm sure many players would pay $15 a month to have access to all the cards available for the eternal Constructed formats.
