Magic: The Gathering Guilds of Ravnica Prerelease Packs Are Guild-Based

While Magic: The Gathering fans are hyped about the Commander 2018 spoilers, there's a bunch of us who just want to return to Ravnica again. Guilds of Ravnica, the upcoming Magic expansion, promises to return to one of the most popular worlds of Magic, and although it's too early for Wizards of the Coast to release official spoilers for the set, at least now we know that the Prerelease Packs will be guild-based.

According to Wizards Play Network, case quantities for Guilds of Ravnica Prerelease Packs will come in quantities of twenty, rather than the usual eighteen, so that it will have an even number of each guild in the set —Boros, Selesnya, Izzet, Golgari, and Dimir. Just like the Prerelease for Return to Ravnica back in 2012, the Prerelease Packs for Guilds of Ravnica will include one seeded booster pack, composed entirely of cards relevant to the chosen guild. So to sum it up: each Prerelease Pack includes a seeded booster pack and five Guilds of Ravnica boosters.

That's exciting stuff. I remember choosing Azorious back when I played in the Return to Ravnica Prerelease. Since there are limited quantities for each guild, more players would be motivated to sign-up for Prerelease early before Prerelease Packs for their chosen guild runs out. I'd probably pick Dimir this time. I just hope that it will still be available when I sign up.

Guilds of Ravnica will feature five guilds: Selesnya (green-white), Boros (red-white), Golgari (black-green), Izzet (blue-red), and Dimir (blue-black).

The following set, Ravnica Allegiance will feature the other five guilds: Azorius (blue-white), Rakdos (black-red), Gruul (red-green), Simic (green-blue), and Orzhov (black-white). It will be released in January 2019.
