Madhouse will be busy with Frieren until the first season of 2024, but the studio already has new shows lined up. One of these new Madhouse projects is Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, which recently got a 2024 release window.
This anime was announced back in June 2022. Since then, there haven’t been any major updates about the show’s status.
Finally, Madhouse shared a new update today. This should mean we will get more details in the coming months.
Madhouse Continues to Work on Unique Anime Projects
Madhouse is a long-running anime studio that has produced numerous hits in recent decades. Starting from the 90s with Trigun, the studio has worked on other iconic titles like Death Note and One-Punch Man.
Over the past years, Madhouse has taken a bit of a backseat, at least when it comes to discussions. Most anime fans now talk about the likes of ufotable and MAPPA when it comes to big action shows.
Recently though, Madhouse has seen a bit of a resurgence thanks in large part to Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, which has been getting a lot of attention.
Soon, the studio will work on even more interesting titles, including Trillion Game.
This upcoming series is also expected to air sometime next year, and it is an adaptation of a seinen manga that follows the rise of a billionaire.
Along with this, Madhouse is also working on Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, another seinen manga adaptation that’s confirmed to air next year.

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth Gets 2024 Release Window
The Orb manga was serialized from September 2020 to April 2022 in Big Comic Spirits, the same magazine as Naoki Urasawa's renowned titles such as 20th Century Boys.
Orb is set in fifteenth-century Europe, a time when heretics were burned at the stake. One of the series’ characters is Rafal, a young man who discovers that the Earth orbits the sun.
The series also follows Oczy and Gars, who come across Rafal’s heretical texts about the Earth’s orbit.
Madhouse confirmed that Orb: On the Movements of the Earth will be released sometime in 2024. For now, there’s no word yet on a more specific release window.
As there’s no trailer for the anime yet, chances are that this show will be released in Summer 24 at the earliest.
