Luke Cage Showrunner Signs Deal With Amazon

It's been a few months but fans are still ticked over the recent cancellations of Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. All three shows made strides and were improvements over their previous seasons, though many would argue that Luke Cage was never a bad show and its cliffhanger will now remain unconcluded unless a Daughters of the Dragon series is made.

Well, at least the people who are involved with the show aren't licking their wounds, with showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker recently inking a deal with Amazon. This is the latest big signing from the company, already having talents like Neil Gaiman and Robert Kirkman on the payroll. Adding Coker just makes the company's next batch of shows much more interesting.

Here is Coker's statement about joining the company and contributing for their new streaming service (via The Hollywood Reporter):

"Amazon is the future, and their bespoke, specific approach to building groundbreaking shows offers an amazing opportunity, one that I'm incredibly thankful for. I can't think of a better place to launch the first shows developed under my Seattle-based Fighting 99th Entertainment banner and am excited for people to see what we have in store."

Reports have claimed that Luke Cage's cancellation was a mixture of Coker butting heads over the show's creative direction and Disney making their own streaming service. With Daredevil gone, fans are expecting Punisher and Jessica Jones to leave after their seasons in 2019.

Luke Cage and the other Marvel shows can still be viewed on Netflix.
