The original Marvel Netflix shows are now streaming on Disney+ but fans have been noticing a few interesting changes since the shows debuted on the streaming service. The latest one has been the removal of in memoriam tributes to the late actor Reg E. Cathey who appeared in Luke Cage. Interestingly, showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker isn't happy about the removal and has expressed his disappointment with the change.
Cheo Hodari Coker recently came across an article confirming that the in memoriam tribute to Reg E. Cathey has been removed from Luke Cage. In addition to that, the Stan Lee tribute in The Punisher has been removed as well. Coker immediately tweeted the article and expressed his disappointment with Disney for making the unnecessary change.
"I mean, why do this? Reg E Cathey was part of the heart and soul of Season Two. We didn't feel obligated to dedicate the season to him just because he died -- we felt obligated because we loved him and he was a galvanizing force," Coker wrote.
Reg E. Cathey was undoubtedly an important part of Luke Cage, having played the titular character's father before he passed away in February 2018. It's understandable that the cast and crew wanted to pay tribute to the late actor and the removal of the tribute was a huge blow to Cathey's legacy.
For now, Disney has not yet addressed the removal of the in memoriam tributes to Stan Lee and Reg E. Cathey. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
